Backpack Blessings Packing Party

A weekly program was started in January at West Crawford Elementary School for kids in need. Several other elementary schools already have programs in place to assist children at those schools, but this is the first year for West Crawford Elementary.

The entire student body receives a free breakfast and lunch on school days.  However, there are students who, for various reasons, do not have much to eat from Friday evening until Monday morning.  Here’s where the “Backpack Blessings” program steps in to help.

The school needs fifty assembled bags each week to provide “Backpack Blessings” for students in need. The goal is for each zip lock bag to contain at least seven small meals.

The food has been donated by a local group, so now all we need are “helping hands” to help package the food into bags to be dropped off for the students. If you can help us pack bags for the kids, please join us! Even if you can donate an hour or two of your time, it will be such a blessing!
